Maranello: Luxury sports car maker Ferrari earned revenues of 446 million euros (Dh2.28 billion) in the third quarter, 12.6 per cent higher than in the same period last year. The quarter also saw 1,398 cars delivered to dealers, a rise of 3.9 per cent, the company said.

Trading profit increased 46 per cent to 76 million euros, the equivalent of 17 per cent of income compared to the 13 per cent achieved in the third quarter of 2009.

"The economic results, like the sporting results sum up the great team effort put in by all at Ferrari," said Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo.

Results for the first three quarters showed revenues of 1.349 billion euros, a gain of 4.8 per cent, and a total of 4,598 cars delivered to dealers, a gain of 2.4 per cent. Ferrari's trading profit for the period was 192 million euros, compared to 176 millions euro last year, a gain of 9 per cent).

Ferrari said that in the first nine months some of their traditional markets that were particularly badly hit by the financial crisis had begun picking up: North America is up by 5 per cent, the UK up by 17 per cent and Australia up by 10 per cent.
